Effects of the DANA on logistics
From World Ocean Cargo Ibérica we would like to convey our sincere condolences to all those affected by the DANA, conveying our support and solidarity in these difficult times.
A meteorological phenomenon such as the one that occurred in Valencia has had repercussions in different areas of logistics.
The port of Valencia was closed for more than 24 hours, which meant that ships could not dock, transporters could not enter the port and as a result there were delays in the delivery and collection of goods both in Valencia and in the rest of Spain.
Logistics centres have been damaged. Some of them were flooded, without servers, without telephone lines, without electricity .... causing a total stoppage. It was not until the beginning of the week following the DANA that they were able to re-establish their communications and work in acceptable conditions. Apart from all the emotional burden of what happened.
The service of some roads is still interrupted to this day because of the amount of mud, cars and mud that makes them impassable.
The same applies to rail transport. The different connections with the rest of the country are gradually being re-established.
We are facing changes that society is not prepared for and that we will have to face by being as cautious as possible. Without going any further, the port of Barcelona, faced with the forecast of heavy rain and seeing what had happened in Valencia yesterday, closed its doors.
