Incoterms for multimodal transport:

The following incoterms can be used for intermodal transport, that is, a combination of at least two modes of transport, be it sea, air, land, rail, etc.

EXW (Ex Works).

FCA (Free Carrier).

CPT (Carriage Paid To).

CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid to).

DAT (Delivered At Terminal).

DAP (Delivered At Place).

DDP (Delivery Duty Paid).

 

Incoterms for sea or land transport:

However, these incoterms are only suitable for sea or land transport.

FAS (Free Alongside Ship).

CFR (Cost and Freight).

FOB (Free On Board).

CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight).

 

Recommendations:

EXW: Rule more appropriate for domestic rather than foreign operations.

Place: CONCRETION “[Chosen rule] designated place, Incoterms© 2020”.

FOB/CIF: Not recommended with containers. They are maritime rules.

Variants: Do not innovate or alter. Use the rules according to their meaning.
